San Diego Emergency Artists' Support League - EASL
In response to the 2003 firestorms, a core group of San Diego artists and activists established Synergy Arts Foundation in order to help 21 artists who lost all. San Diego EASL was inspired by the work of the North Texas EASL organization. Abiding by a strict policy of respecting confidentiality, the SD-EASL committee will not reveal names of applicants or recipients.
THE MISSION
The mission of San Diego EASL is to provide limited emergency financial assistance to San Diego County's visual artists and visual arts professionals who are in desperate need because of a medical crisis, accident, fire or loss of personal and professional property. The maximum annual grant is $1,000 per emergency or $2,500 for a major crisis for individual applicants and $1,000 to $3,000 for arts organizations. The EASL fund is restricted to qualified artists who have lived in San Diego County for a minimum of two years, and who have a record of exhibitions and/or significant involvement in the arts community. Grants are reviewed on a case-by-case basis. Abiding by a strict policy of respecting confidentiality, SD-EASL will not reveal names of applicants or recipients if so requested.
EASL has designated funding from SYNERGY ARTS FOUNDATION, and is operated by a volunteer steering committee so that maximum funds may be distributed to artists and organizations in need.
EASL raises funds from private donations and arts events. Please join with SYNERGY ARTS FOUNDATION and support EASL and our distinguished growing arts community. Giving to the EASL fund is an important way for our San Diego County artists' community to sustain the arts by helping artists in crisis.
